The interim Prime Minister instructs relief measures on essential item prices after a decrease in fuel prices |
Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has taken swift action in response to Sunday's significant reduction in fuel prices. He has directed authorities at both the Federal and Provincial levels to enforce stringent price controls on essential items and services, aligning them with the lowered petroleum prices.
In a tweet, he emphasized the need for all Chief Ministers to ensure a corresponding reduction in the prices of essential commodities and services. He stressed the importance of transferring the benefits of reduced petroleum prices directly to the people of Pakistan, urging strict implementation of these measures.
This decision follows the unexpected drop in Sunday's fuel rates, attributed to the international decrease in oil prices and the strengthening of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar. The government's move to slash petroleum product prices by a historic Rs. 40 per liter for petrol received praise from the business community. As a result, the new price of petrol stands at Rs. 283.38 after the substantial reduction, and high-speed diesel is now priced at Rs. 303.18 per liter after a cut of Rs. 15.
