Global Smartphone Market Experiences Another Decline |
Global Smartphone Sales Experience 8% Decline in Counterpoint Study.
A recent report by Counterpoint show an 8% drop in global smartphone sales during the July-September period compared to the previous year. This decline is primarily attributed to a slowdown in consumer demand. Despite this, the market showed a modest 2% growth in Q3, possibly due to the launch of the iPhone 15 series.
Samsung maintained its leading position with a 20% market share, driven by its Galaxy A-series. Apple secured the second spot with 16%, and Xiaomi claimed the third position with 12%. Oppo (10%) and vivo (8%) rounded out the top five.
Mention here that Honor, Huawei, and Transsion Group achieved positive year-on-year growth, while other major brands experienced double-digit declines, except for Apple. Analysts expect the momentum observed in September to continue into the fourth quarter, with strong demand anticipated during the holiday season.
The impact of Xiaomi and Samsung's upcoming flagship phone releases upcoming year remains uncertain, with Xiaomi 14 expected to reach the international market before the Samsung Galaxy.
