SECP Registers 2463 New Companies in this year . |
In October 2023, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) recorded the registration of 2,463 new companies, bringing the total registered companies to 205,456. The combined capitalization of these newly incorporated companies amounted to Rs. 4.24 billion.
Private limited companies constituted 56%, single-member companies 41%, and the remaining 3% encompassed public unlisted companies, not-for-profit associations, trade organizations, limited liability partnerships (LLPs), and foreign entities. Nearly 99.6% of registrations occurred online, and three foreign companies established a presence in Pakistan.
The information technology sector led with 326 incorporations, followed by trading (322), services (298), real estate development & construction (290), education (107), tourism (100), food & beverages (90), e-commerce, and mining & quarrying (67 each).
Other sectors included corporate agricultural farming (63), marketing & advertisement (61), textile (55), pharmaceutical (54), transport (49), engineering, and chemical (45 each), power generation (44), healthcare (32), cosmetics & toiletries (31), broadcasting & telecasting (30), lodging (28), communications (24), cables & electrical goods, and paper & board (16 each), with 203 companies in various other sectors.
Integration with FBR and provincial departments saw 2,281 companies using SECP eService for FBR registration, 61 registering with EOBI, 27 with PESSI/SESSI, and 34 with excise and taxation departments.
Foreign investment was reported in 75 new companies, involving investors from Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, China, Denmark, El Salvador, France, Germany, Indonesia, South Korea, Libya, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Spain, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, the UK, and the US.
China led in investment with 40 companies, followed by Afghanistan (5), the UK (4), Germany and the UAE (3 each), the Netherlands, Norway, and the US (2 each), and 14 companies from other countries.
