IT Minister Stresses Significance of Enhancing Broadband Connectivity for Economic Growth.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, emphasized the crucial role of enhancing broadband fiber connectivity in fostering economic growth during a meeting. 

He highlighted that a 10 percent increase in mobile broadband adoption correlates with a 0.5-0.8 percent GDP boost. The discussions delved into fiberization and the Right of Way Policy, with senior officials from MoITT and telecom companies in attendance. 

Dr. Saif underscored the priority of providing quality telecom services to the public, mentioning recent standardization of right-of-way policies for fiber deployment. He urged the IT industry to establish fiberization targets, assuring full cooperation from the Ministry of IT & Telecom.
