The Provincial Health Department of Sindh Temporarily Suspends Funding for Private Medical Institutions
Sindh's provincial Health Department has announced a temporary suspension of funding for private medical institutions within the province. This suspension will persist until these institutions submit their audit reports. Local media sources reveal that stringent regulations have been imposed on private medical institutions to qualify for funding.
This decision affects all private medical institutions in Sindh, including prominent ones like the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and Indus Hospital.
The Caretaker Health Minister of Sindh highlighted a lack of transparency regarding the allocation of previous funds, totaling Rs. 87 billion, to these institutions. Despite requests for audit reports, the institutions have sought additional time.
The minister emphasized that the provincial government will withhold any further funding until these institutions provide comprehensive and satisfactory audit reports.
