PTA Convenes Dialogue with Religious Scholars to Encourage Responsible and Safe Social Media/Internet usage.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) hosted a gathering of prominent religious scholars at its headquarters in Islamabad.

This event, which took place today, exemplified a joint endeavor between the PTA and religious leaders to tackle the challenges posed by social media and the internet. The aim was to cultivate a digital environment that respects cultural and religious values.

Maj General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, Chairman of PTA, spoke to the audience, underscoring the crucial role of religious scholars in guiding the public toward ethical and responsible internet usage. He stressed the potential for a more significant impact if these scholars extended their support to PTA through their own platforms.

The meeting provided a platform for active engagement and dialogue, featuring an open-floor discussion and recommendation session. Key points of discussion included the imperative to educate young people about responsible social media and internet use, particularly emphasizing the vital role of parents in this education. The Quran and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) were highlighted as guiding principles in this endeavor.

The event kicked off with a welcome address from the Director-General of the Web Analysis Division (WAD) at PTA, who outlined the initiatives undertaken by the PTA.

The meeting was attended by Islamic scholars representing various schools of thought, including Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII); Moulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee; and Maulana Tariq Jameel, among others. Senior PTA officers also graced the occasion with their presence.
