In the initial nine months of 2023, over 630,000 Pakistanis departed in pursuit of better job opportunities overseas. Data from the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment reveals that, until September, 633,108 Pakistanis had registered for jobs abroad.


 By July, 540,282 had already left, indicating that more than 92,000 Pakistanis emigrated in September alone. Among the emigrants, 275,433 were laborers, 141,282 were drivers, and there were also 6,351 engineers, 5,876 accountants, 2,580 doctors, and 1,194 teachers. 


The breakdown further showed 17,058 highly qualified individuals, 35,414 highly skilled workers, 232,933 skilled workers, and 65,922 semi-skilled workers, with the majority (281,781) being unskilled. Notably, 302,634 workers moved to Saudi Arabia, 173,561 to the United Arab Emirates, 44,567 to Oman, and 44,777 to Qatar. 


Other destinations included Malaysia (18,609), Bahrain (9,599), Romania (4,405), Greece (2,676), and Iraq (2,646). It's important to note that this data only accounts for individuals registered with the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment and does not include those who moved abroad for education or through direct immigration routes.


 In the preceding year, 832,339 Pakistanis migrated abroad for employment, marking the highest figure since 2016.
