Imad Wasim criticizes Babar Azam after loss against Australia. |
Imad Wasim, the renowned all-rounder, didn't mince his words about Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, following the team's defeat to Australia in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.
During a local sports show, Imad Wasim pointed out that Babar Azam hasn't clinched a victory for Pakistan against a major team since 2019. He stated, "I believe the last time Babar shone in a significant match was against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup when he scored a century."
Wasim emphasized, "As the top-ranked batter in ODIs, it's Babar's responsibility to secure wins, but doubts will arise if he doesn't deliver. He needs to adapt his batting according to the team's needs."
It's worth noting that Babar Azam had a limited impact in the match, being dismissed after contributing 18 runs from 14 balls.
Moreover, after Abdullah and Imam's dismissals, Pakistan found themselves in a challenging position at 154-2 in 23.4 overs, desperately needing a substantial partnership to regain momentum.
Regrettably, skipper Babar Azam was sent back to the pavilion by Adam Zampa after scoring just 18 runs, courtesy of a remarkable catch by Pat Cummins.
The Pakistani team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, ultimately being all out for 305 runs in 45.3 overs.
